Monday's Baby Appointment

Well.... Since the OB department at the hospital here in Estherville, Iowa is outdated, they are unable to tell the baby's gender for six more weeks.  In fact, no ultrasound at all.  I'm kinda bummed because I was SO excited thinking we would know by now.  And six more weeks just sounds so long.  However, we did get to hear his/her heartbeat for the very first time!  Boy, that was so awesome!  I can't wait til next time.  Love love love the OB nurses - never had such great care at a hospital before.  Went in for an ultrasound; got my weewhoo checked out instead (thumbs up!) .  Doctor didn't even buy me dinner first.... sigh.  Was definitely surprised, but I guess I'll get used to a lot more of that.  On a positive note, everything looks great, baby is healthy, and everyone here is very excited!

Our Little Sea Monkey

This is supposed to be 12 weeks, but we haven't been to a doctor yet so this its just an estimate as of 4.17.12.  Today, I should be about 17 weeks.  We just got back from the hospital for blood/urine tests(FUN!) and we have our first real baby appointment on Monday morning!!!  So excited!  We will for sure hear his/her heartbeat for the first time, find out a more exact time period, and MAYBE even find out the gender.  Ahhhhh!!!

A New Beginning

I had been extremely sick and had already gone to the doctor twice. I was supposed to wait a week for viral test results in order to see if i could get some antibiotics, but it was unbearable so i had Andrew take me to the emergency room. We had been told that we were unable to have kids previously, so I was irritated when they wanted me to pee in a cup... Again! It didn't take long for the doctor to inform me that I was "knocked up" ( oh thanks !). Immediately we looked at the doctor unshaken and told her that she had the wrong room number and that she must have been mistaken. Our friends had been praying for us and our fertility which must have been the difference. She returned shortly and assured us that we were in fact pregnant! Andrews face went pale and I couldnt help but laugh, it had been "impossible" not much earlier. I looked at him and whispered, "Ready or Not, Here We Go!". We left the hospital that day without antibiotics. Prenatals, zofran,a new mindset and an undeniable excitement replaced my intended remedy instead. It was definitely one of the best days of our lives and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this new and desperately wanted journey.
